On February 21, 2023, the disproportionation unit of the aromatics complex at the Guangdong Petrochemical Integrated Refining and Chemical Project successfully received qualified reformate de-pentanizer oil from the upstream reforming unit and commenced continuous, stable production of high-quality paraxylene (PX) and pure benzene, marking the successful first-time startup of the aromatics complex at a high standard and with superior performance.

At 4:16 a.m. on February 21—coinciding with the auspicious “Dragon Rises” festival—the 750,000-ton-per-year propane dehydrogenation unit at the Huayi Qinzhou Integrated New Materials Base achieved full process integration and produced qualified polypropylene-grade propylene with a purity exceeding 99.6%, which was then fed into the propylene spherical storage tanks, marking a successful first-time startup.

At 10:27 p.m. on February 16, the 1-million-ton-per-year ethylene plant constructed by the company at Hainan Refining & Chemical produced qualified products, achieving successful commissioning on the first feed-in. This milestone signifies that the entire process flow—from cracking and compression to separation—has been fully integrated, marking the plant’s full transition into commercial operation. The 1-million-ton-per-year ethylene project at Hainan Refining & Chemical is a key project for both Hainan Province and Sinopec Group. Upon completion and commissioning, the project is expected to stimulate downstream industries and serve as a new “engine” for Hainan’s future economic development.
