Structured metal wire mesh packing is fabricated by weaving extremely fine metal wires, resulting in a very high specific surface area—typically 500–1,000 m²/m³. It exhibits exceptionally high separation efficiency, with a theoretical plate number of 5–10 per meter. However, its performance is highly sensitive to liquid loading; at low liquid loads, the packing demonstrates excellent wettability due to capillary action.
