二、R&D team


        Professor Yi Zhengming, the head of R&D team, was graduated from Beijing University of Chemical Technology and obtained Postdoctor degree. He mainly works on theory and experimental study, industrial development and application in the mass transfer and separation engineering field, including basic theory study on fluid flow in distillation process and mass transfer process, process intensification and application research, basic theory study on the fluid mechanics of packing and packed tower and mass transfer; theory and experimental study on novel continuous multi-stage reflux fractional crystallization, etc.

三、Study Contents

 

1、FRV compound tray
The structure of valve leg and bonnet is generally applied in traditional valve for compound tray. The valve leg has the function of connection and control, but it is the main reason for friction and stuck. FRV (a new type of valve without valve leg) is designed based on characteristics of high turndown VV valve and FSC valve. The FRV compound tray is designed based on FRV combined with guided sieve plate.

2、Industrial Promotion and Application of Tapered Packing
        Since 2003, the R&D team had started to develop a new packing- tapered spiral packing which is greatly different from current industrial tower packing in design principle and structure.


 

        By comparing the tapered spiral packing with the conventional tower packing, under the same tower pressure drop, the operating load of the tower can be increased by 40-60%; under the same specific surface area, the effective mass transfer area can be increased by 20-30%.

 


3、Reverse Spraying Type Bubble Scrubber
        The scrubber is mainly provided with reverse spraying absorption pipes, nozzles and an absorption liquid tank inside, and a corresponding absorption liquid circulating pump through which absorption liquid is sprayed at a high speed from the bottom up by the special nozzles into the absorption pipes to contact and collide with jet stream directly and reversely, when the momentums of two phases achieve a balance, a section of efficiently turbulent bubble area will form, called standing wave. In the bubble area, the contact area of stream and liquid is larger than that in a conventional absorption tower, as the surface is continuously renewing, it can obtain the excellent mass and heat transfer effect. Then the absorption liquid is discharged from the scrubber after passing through demister.


 

4、Reverse spraying type bubble scrubber is applicable to fields as follows, and new application fields are under continuous development:
Flue gas desulfurization/FGD
• Sulfuric acid plant/waste sulfuric acid regenerative apparatus
• Metal smeltery            • Cement furnace
• Refinery                 • Incinerator
• Titanium dioxide (titanium oxide) unit
• Sintering machine/sintering and palletizing flue gas desulfurization and dust removal in steel works
• Glassworks/ ceramic works     • Public power plant


5. Development and Application of Melt Crystallization Unit

        If the rectification method is used in separation process for material systems with approximate boiling point, it requires many trays and a larger reflux ratio, so the primary investment in equipment and cost for cooling and heating medium consumed in operation are considerable. In industrial production, it is often to take the continuous crystallization method to separate the material systems that the boiling points are close but the fusing points are greatly different. The energy consumption of continuous crystallization is only about 5~10% of that in rectification. This unit can not only prevent occurrence of channeling and wall flow, but also realize two operation modes of melt crystallization and solution crystallization. The mass transfer process of involved industrial process belongs to the solid-liquid mass transfer unit filed.   


 

6.Development and Application of Vacuum Cooling Crystallizer 

       The continuous vacuum crystallization will be an important trend in the future industrial crystallization production. Compared with cooling crystallization, it does not need an external circulating heat exchanger, secondly, as the degree of supersaturation occurs at the inner liquid surface of crystallizer, no heat transfer interface exists, and the phenomenon of scale formation will never happen.


The picture is 30000t /year acephate continuous vacuum cooling crystallizer designed by Hubei Sanonda, which has been put into use and is in good condition now.
